Product Description
The foundation to drawing a character is the penciled under-drawing. An under-drawing that has somehow gone astray, once penned, ultimately results in artwork that just will not pull together or lacks balance. This volume explains in thorough detail how to handle the pencil, before the pen ever touches the drawing. Using actual examples of how a well or poorly penciled under-drawing can affect the final work, this book passes along many helpful pointers. Use this book to learn the absolute basics of penciled artwork, manga-style!

  1. Dont get me wrong this book does teach you the basics and then abit more but, if you’re like me and learn more visually then reading, then this book aint for you. This books artwork is real 80s work, ya know pointy face with messed up face features like eyes alittle to high or not portioned correctly, all old etc etc( even Dragon ball Z style looks better then these ). So that for one through me off I have little anime/manga experience and my artwork is far better then this one so I suggest buying How to draw manga volume one and not MORE how to do draw manga volume one ( which is just as good or better in the reading portion )For the older volume has a more Recent style and not an old style. Although this volume gives you info that should be needed in this catagory it just makes you feel like your drawings will end up turning out old and ugly, not something for ppl who are looking for a more recent drawing style. And Btw MHTDM Volume 2 has a more recent style so if you are planning on buying two, go for it.

I’m still working through the book but it has given me a new way of looking at how to draw things. I seems to be able to follow along pretty well. I have enjoyed it.

This book had good pictures and examples to help a person draw manga and it’s characters, but buy a different book if you are a beginner. This book wasn’t very helpful to me, but if you are a good artist already and hope to be reminded to how to draw a few things like the head and body of manga characters, then get this book.

But, I don’t really recommend this book because it needs much more pages and helpful pointers.
